I have been making knit baby caps. I got the original pattern from The natural knitter.
I use size 8 knitting needles with worsted weight yarn.
Make the hat 4 inches or 6 inches four a rolled brim.
Hat #1
Cast on 54 stitches.
Knit 2 purl 2 across ending with purl 2.
Repeat until desired leangth.
Knit 2 together purl 2 across.
Knit 2 together purl 1 across.
Run a piece of yarn through each stitch and tie.
Sew up side seam.
Hat #2
Cast on 54 stitches
Knit 1 purl 1 across ending with purl 1.
Repeat until desired leangth.
Knit 1 *purl 2 together repeat from* to last stitch purl 1.
Knit across.
Purl 2 together.
Run a piece of yarn through each stitch and tie.
Sew up side seam.
